Mike LeBlanc
Planning & Zoning Commission

Mike LeBlanc

Mike LeBlanc and his wife Kim, both SWHS graduates, met while Kim was a senior. Working on the local tobacco farms as a teen instilled the value of a college education, and both attended Central Connecticut State University together, Kim as a Special Education Teacher and Mike an Engineer. They married at Wapping Community Church and purchased and restored one of the oldest homes located on the east side of town on Dart Hill Road, one of the former farm tracts in town. With knowledge and experience in construction, the restoration has been a hands-on experience. Both pursued their masters degrees while working, Kim at UConn and Mike at Rensselaer, then moved on to raising a family. Their two sons are attending SWHS and are both active in Cross Country, Track, Swimming, Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Scouting.

Mike has worked over 30 years at ConnDOT in Engineering and Construction mainly on large infrastructure projects which include Mass Transit, Rail Passenger Stations (Metro North), Bradley International Airport, and now the beginnings of transit-oriented development.

An avid marathon and trail runner, skier, hiker (mountaineering), with a love of the outdoors, Mike is dedicated to preserving open space and maintaining the overall character of our town.

Mike has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission as an alternate and commissioner for a total of eight years. In review of projects brought before us, among the primary concerns are how will the residents benefit? How will this completed project appear 25 years from now? How does it fit into the overall community? The quality and concern for our town and working collectively as a commission far outweighs partisan politics.
