Miguel Proano
Born in Colombia, Miguel came to the United States as a child. His family’s decision to build a life here was rooted in the belief that education and perseverance open doors. That experience shaped Miguel’s outlook: he dedicated himself to learning, building a career, and ultimately creating opportunities for others.
Professionally, Miguel owns and operates several businesses in the Greater Hartford area. He has built a reputation for revitalizing local institutions, managing operations with fiscal discipline, and creating welcoming spaces for the community. This experience has given him a practical, disciplined approach that he now brings to public service.
In 2024, Miguel was appointed to the South Windsor Board of Education, where he works to ensure that students have access to the same opportunities that helped shape his own life. As both a policymaker and a parent with children in the district, he approaches each decision with two questions: Is this good for our students? and Is this sustainable for our community?
Miguel has also served on the South Windsor Parks and Recreation Commission (2023–2025), the Public Building Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee, gaining valuable insight into how long-term planning, community amenities, and fiscal responsibility intersect with resident priorities. In addition, he has taken on extensive leadership and volunteer responsibilities within the South Windsor Republican Town Committee, helping shape local initiatives and strengthen civic engagement since first moving to town.
His focus is simple: strengthen education, keep government accountable, and preserve the quality of life that makes South Windsor a great place to raise a family. Miguel believes that the best solutions come from listening to parents, teachers, and residents, and from leading with common sense rather than politics.
